Selenium Energy was set up by Steve Higgins after 25 years working as an electrician. In that time he saw plenty of homeowners sold renewable systems by companies they never met again: quoted by a salesperson, installed by a subcontractor, and left to chase somebody else entirely when a question came up two months later. Selenium exists to remove that gap: the person who quotes your job is the person who fits it.

We help homeowners and small commercial property owners who want to cut what they pay for electricity, charge an electric car at home, or bring older wiring up to current standards safely. We specialise in solar PV, battery storage and retrofits to existing solar, OZEV-authorised EV charger installations, and the full range of domestic and commercial electrical work: consumer unit upgrades, EICR inspections, full and partial rewires, fault finding and emergency call-outs.

Because everything sits under one roof, a solar install does not stall waiting for an electrician to come and make the final connections, and a battery retrofit does not turn into a dispute between two trades. Steve is MCS-qualified for solar PV and battery installation and holds City & Guilds 2391 inspection and testing, so design, installation, testing and certification all happen in-house.

We are based in Winchester and work across Hampshire and the surrounding counties, including Basingstoke, Southampton, Andover, Portsmouth, Salisbury, Reading and Oxford. Being local matters: surveys happen quickly, installation dates are not weeks out, and if you need us back you are calling a Winchester mobile rather than a national call centre.
